All commitments made by École Centrale Casablanca regarding sustainable development and social responsibility are organized into five pillars: Strategy and Governance, Education, Research & Innovation, Environmental Management, and Social Policy.
Strategy and Governance Pillar
- Establish a structured and dedicated organization comprising different members of the Centrale community (students, faculty, researchers, administrative staff, etc.) to lead and monitor École Centrale Casablanca’s sustainable development and social responsibility initiatives;
- Engage all stakeholders (internal and external) of École Centrale Casablanca (students, faculty, researchers, staff, partners—whether local, national, or international; institutions, organizations, public or private companies; suppliers or service providers, etc.) and raise their awareness of sustainable development challenges and the actions undertaken by École Centrale Casablanca in this regard;
- Act in partnership with local, national, and international actors to implement joint projects promoting environmental protection, economic sustainability, and a more equitable society;
- Report to decision-making bodies and communicate regularly and transparently, both internally and externally, on the commitments and results of École Centrale Casablanca’s sustainable development and social responsibility efforts.
Education and Training Pillar
- Integrate sustainable development issues into all initial and continuing education activities (courses, projects, assignments, internships, gap-year programs, professional projects, etc.) to promote the development of learners’ knowledge and skills on these topics;
- Support students and student associations engaged in sustainable development and social responsibility initiatives;
- Offer training activities for faculty and teacher-researchers on sustainable development and social responsibility topics, and encourage them to incorporate these issues into their curricula;
- Organize awareness and training activities for all staff at École Centrale Casablanca to promote the adoption of eco-friendly practices in daily routines;
- Organize and/or co-organize events (conferences, debates, roundtables, seminars, workshops, etc.) open to all stakeholders and the general public to promote the wide dissemination of knowledge on sustainable development challenges.
Research & Innovation Pillar
- Integrate sustainable development and social responsibility themes into École Centrale Casablanca’s research and innovation strategy.
- Encourage the development of interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research and innovation activities that address sustainable development and social responsibility challenges.
- Ensure the implementation of responsible research practices by minimizing the environmental impact of research projects, guaranteeing scientific integrity and rigor, and reflecting on the ethical issues related to research.
- Promote the dissemination of research and innovation results to all stakeholders, including students, the socio-economic sector, and the general public.
Environmental Management Pillar
- Assess (carbon footprint) and implement measures to reduce emissions and practices that produce greenhouse gases.
- Develop a policy to prevent and reduce environmental harm, notably by establishing a waste sorting system.
- Raise awareness among campus users (especially students and staff) about energy savings and encourage them to minimize resource consumption (water, paper, plastic packaging, etc.).
- Implement a responsible procurement policy formalized through a charter.
- Promote healthy and responsible food practices among internal stakeholders (students and staff) and external management providers.
- Contribute to the preservation of biodiversity on campus.
Social Policy Pillar
- Improve the overall monitoring system of the social policy for students (quality of campus life, equal opportunity policies, support for students facing socio-economic difficulties or disabilities, assistance with professional integration, etc.).
- Embed the promotion of diversity, professional equality, and anti-discrimination measures into École Centrale Casablanca’s human resources policies.
- Develop a quality-of-work-life policy aimed at ensuring well-being and safety in the workplace, promoting equality and work-life balance, encouraging participatory management, and supporting skills development and career progression.
