Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at ECC
By promoting equitable access to quality education, École Centrale Casablanca (ECC) is committed to training a new generation of innovative, creative, and agile generalist engineers. These future leaders and entrepreneurs are called upon to contribute actively to the socio-economic development of Morocco and the African continent, while remaining mindful of sustainability challenges and the impact they will have on society and future generations. This shared ambition is supported by the Mastercard Foundation.
ABOUT THE MASTERCARD FOUNDATION
Founded in 2006, the Mastercard Foundation is one of the largest private foundations in the world. Its mission is to advance education and financial inclusion to foster prosperity in Africa and support Indigenous youth in Canada.
Through its “Young Africa Works” strategy, the Mastercard Foundation aims to enable 30 million young Africans to access dignified and fulfilling employment by 2030.
OBJECTIVES OF THE MASTERCARD FOUNDATION SCHOLARS PROGRAM
The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program is part of the “Young Africa Works” strategy and aims to support young Africans who face significant social and economic barriers that limit their access to inclusive and quality education.
The Program prioritizes the inclusion of vulnerable youth, in particular:
- Young women
- Youth with disabilities
- Young people from refugee or displaced communities
- Individuals from remote or hard-to-reach rural areas
As part of its strategy of openness, inclusion, and continent-wide impact, École Centrale Casablanca is committed to supporting 280 Mastercard Foundation Scholars over the next ten years through its partnership with the Mastercard Foundation.
In the long term, the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at ECC aims to recruit engineering students with the following targets: 80% young women, 25% refugees and displaced persons, and 10% persons with disabilities.
This program aims to recruit, support, and train young high-potential talents — particularly young women, refugees and internally displaced persons, and people with disabilities — from Morocco and Sub-Saharan Africa, admitted to the Engineering program of the School.
Beyond access to high-quality higher education and the funding of Scholars’ studies, the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at ECC aims to implement an integrated framework for developing transformational leadership, promoting entrepreneurship and innovation, as well as encouraging civic engagement and a “give-back” mindset toward the community.
It fully aligns with the Centrale model of training responsible decision-makers and committed agents of change, dedicated to serving Morocco and the African continent.
